Eleanor Mahoney Lawrence died on October 30, 2015 in Florida. She was born in Greenwich, CT. to the late Mary and John Maher Mahoney. She attended St. Catherine’s Grammar School, St. Mary’s High School and graduated from Mount St. Vincent’s in New York. She then attended Endicott Junior College in Massachusetts.
She was employed by American Cyanamid where she met her first husband, the late Joseph Csapilla. She was later employed by Shearson-Lehman Brothers and Prudential Securities. She lived in New York City and Long Beach, New York with her husband, Tony Lawrence, who predeceased her.
Eleanor led an active life including her work, tennis and travel. But most important in her life were her friends. She was known by her friends to be a fun-loving individual who was always the center of a “good time.” We can all recall events that would not have been the same without “Mahoney” being involved! To this day her dear childhood friends, Nancy and Carol, are so saddened to know that they can no longer form the “Trio of Laughter” that was theirs alone – wherever they were. And they can no longer talk for hours helping each other get through the ups and downs of life. Another good friend, Bridget, remembers her crazy travel adventures with Eleanor.
Eleanor is survived by her brother, Dan, and pre-deceased by John, Betty Jane and Matthew. She also leaves step-children and step-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwich, Connecticut on Saturday, November 21 at 11:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements are by Leo P. Gallagher and Sons, Greenwich, CT. Donations may be made in Eleanor’s name to the Arthritis Foundation.
