
Geraldine Marie Zandi passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014, in Greenwich, Connecticut. Known as Geri, she was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 29, 1913, the oldest daughter of Mary Lillian Beach and John E. Beach. She grew up and attended schools in Chicago and married Joseph B. Zandi. Joseph shortly thereafter enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Europe during WWII. Upon his return, they lived in Chicago and later moved to Munster, Indiana, a nearby suburb. They had one daughter, Mary Jo Zandy, and a son, John Gerald Zandy. The family lived in their home on Hawthorne Drive, across from Wicker Park, for many years. Sometime after Joseph’s death in 1997, Geri moved to Hartsfield Village where she lived for ten years. In 2010, she moved to New York and then Connecticut to be closer to her son in Connecticut and daughter in New York.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Jo Zandy of New York City and son John G. Zandy and his wife Patricia Zandy, her grandchildren Emily Zandy and Katy Atlas and her husband Chad Atlas, and their son Dylan Bear Atlas, born this past summer. She is survived by her beloved sister Marceil Gervais. She was preceded in death by her husband and her brother John Beach.
Geraldine Zandi will be remembered for her winning smile, her optimism, her kindness to others and her love of family. She will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Geraldine’s memory may be made to St. Thomas More Church in Munster, Indiana or a charity of one’s choice.
A Catholic service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 12 noon at St. Thomas More Church in Munster, Indiana with internment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, Illinois. A reception will be held immediately following.
