

SCOTT, John (Jack) 84, a resident of Greenwich, CT for 40 years, passed away with peace and grace on April 26, 2017. Jack leaves a great legacy among his family and friends. Jack was one of the most humble but courageous men. He lived life always leading by example and showing others what it meant to be a good husband, father and friend. He was born in Elmhurst, Queens on January 13, 1933 to Frank and Dorothy (O’Brien) Scott. Jack proudly served his country as a US Army Master Sergeant in Korea, during the Korean War. Upon returning from Korea, Jack spent 30 years as an insurance company senior executive working for INA Insurance Co and Montgomery & Collins in NYC. After retiring from the corporate world in 1988, he spent most of the next 30 years working as a ranger at the Griff Harris Golf Course in Greenwich. Jack loved working at the Griff. He made great friends with the many people who came into his life while there. He was dedicated to the course and worked up until the middle of April of this year.
Jack grew up in Manhattan, where he married the love of his life Moira Linehan in 1956. Jack and Moira proudly raised 5 children, and are blessed with 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Jack and Moira loved to go dancing on Saturday nights. He always said he has the most beautiful bride and she got more beautiful with each passing day. Moira always fell for his piercing blue eyes (and his great legs). They shared a wonderful life together.
Jack is survived by his wife Moira, his children Frank (Mary Ellen ) Scott of Linden, NJ; Mark Scott of Lake Mohawk, NJ; Mary Scott of Greenwich, CT; Bill (Karen) Scott of Ridgefield, CT; Eileen (Philip) Antinone of Hurst, TX. His grandchildren Michael and Conor Scott, Tara Rose Lavelle, Maggie and Kate Scott; Max ,JR and Audrey Antinone. He is also survived by his brother and sisters in law John and Eileen Raucci and Kathleen Cluer, his sister Florence Stelzer and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Frank Scott and his parents.
Visitation will be at the Leo P Gallagher Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, CT on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 5-8 PM.. A service will be held at Sacred Heart, 95 Henry St, Greenwich, CT 06830 on Saturday April 29, 2017 at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich, CT.
Jack never understood why people sent flowers at wakes. He felt the money could be put to better use. With that in mind, we ask that In lieu of flowers a donation be made in his honor to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, online at stjude.org or 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
Smile when you think of Jack. Remember him for his big heart, his quiet confident nature, his hard work and high ethical standards. Play a round of golf; a hand of cards or go dancing. He would have liked to join you in person, but he will be there in spirit.
