Mrs. Katharina Tauss

Katarina Tauss, (Katie,) age 89, passed away on February 8, 2012 in Stamford Hospital, surrounded by her family. Katarina was born on May 8, 1922 in Sekitch, Yugoslavia to the late Nicholas and Christina Karbeiner Roth. She was united in marriage to Christian Tauss in 1938. In 1952, Katarina and Christian moved to Ridgewood, Queens where she worked as a sweater maker in a knitting mill and raised her son, Kurt. In 1981, Katarina moved to Wading River, where she enjoyed time with her family, neighbors and friends. Katarina found great joy in being a grandmother. She lovingly became known as “Oma” to many who knew her and her granddaughters. Katarina had a way of making everyone she was around feel loved and special. In 2011, Katarina moved to Stamford, CT to spend more time with her family. Katarina is survived by her son and daughter in law, Kurt and Catherine Tauss, and two granddaughters, Amanda Tauss Elgert and Chrissy Tauss. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Christian, and her infant son, Christian. Visitation hours will be held on Sunday, February 12, from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich. Funeral services will also be help at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home on Monday, February 13 at 11:00am.
