Patrick M Ahern

Patrick M. Ahern, a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart and wife of 49 years, Maureen, died on September 24, 2013. She predeceased him in December 2010. Born on June 23, 1940, Patrick grew up in Great Neck, NY and attended St. Mary’s High School and graduated from St. John’s University where he was a baseball standout. He was an avid Brooklyn Dodgers fan and later a NY Mets fan and shared his love of the game with his children. He was a loving father, brother, Pop-Pop and friend to many and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his daughter Colleen Ahern Garcia (Chris) of Wilton, CT and three sons, Michael Ahern of Wilton, CT, Daniel Ahern of Westport, CT., and Thomas Ahern (Nichole) of Wellesley, MA, as well as 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his 2 sisters Dotsy Hester (Steve) of Overland Park, KS and Eileen Caruso (Vince) of Garden City and his brother Jimmy Ahern (Mary) of Commack, NY.

The family will receive friends and family on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Leo P. Gallagher & Sons Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich. A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church 469 North Street, Greenwich at 10 AM on Saturday , September 28, 2013, with burial to follow at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY.
