Richard K. Rogers Sr. was born November 1944 at Greenwich Hospital. Son to Gordon R. and Anne Marie Rogers, and brother to Gordon (“Jackie”) Rogers Jr and Judith Rogers. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Carol Nadler Rogers, his two sons, their wives, and two grandsons, Richard Jr (Elisabeth) and Jason (Christine, Cole, Reid).
A lifelong Greenwich resident, Arborist and businessman who went into business for himself after an apprenticeship with longtime friend and employer Phillip Ferber. His business, which was his passion, is still in operation today and managed by his son Richard Jr. Richard Sr was a US Army veteran, an avid outdoorsman, beloved father, grandfather, and husband. When not managing his business, he could be found fishing on Long Island Sound, a local trout stream, or hunting in the North Maine woods with his pointing dogs near his cabin.
Richard shared his knowledge and love for all things outdoors with his family and many friends. He often considered the children of his many friends, as his own and helped shape many of their lives and character with his kind heart, inspirational words and wisdom. Richard’s tireless work ethic, dedication, and sacrifice made him loved, respected and remembered by many.
After a long battle with Leukemia, Richard passed away on December 12, 2019 at his home in Cos Cob with his wife Carol by his side. His final wishes were to be cremated, and his remains to be scattered in the waters of Long Island Sound where he loved to fish and on the west slope of Saddleback mountain overlooking his cabin in Maine. We can all rest knowing that he will be greeted by his many beloved bird dogs, departed friends, and loving family members.
His life will be celebrated at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday December 18, 2019 in Greenwich CT.
Rest in peace son, husband, father, grandfather and friend!
