

Born on September 18, 1940, at Greenwich Hospital, he was the beloved son of the late Arthur and Beatrice Allen (née Methe). Stuart is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Lucy Allen. He is survived by his loving children Christopher Allen (Sarah) of Charlotte, NC, David E. Allen (Megan) of Ardmore, PA and Donna DeCarlo (Damian) of Waxhaw, NC. Dear grandfather of Matthew and Daniel Allen; Caroline, Lily and Conor Allen; and Christopher, Elizabeth and Catherine DeCarlo. Stuart is survived by his brother Tucker Allen (Debbie) of Stuart, Florida. He was predeceased by his brother Ted Allen (Nancy) of Old Greenwich, CT.
Stuart attended The Brunswick School where he played basketball on the Connecticut Private School league championship team in 1957 before graduating from Greenwich High School in 1958. He then attended University of Miami and later transferred to the University of Bridgeport where he received his bachelor’s degree. He worked as an accountant and completed his career with his brother, Ted Allen, at Arthur Allen and Company. He was once an avid bowler, enjoyed the opportunity to try and beat the dealers in black jack, and was often found with the scorebook in his hand at his children's athletic games. He loved watching all sports and spending vacation time on the beaches in Aruba.
Stuart was a beloved “Poppop” to his grandchildren. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Leo P. Gallagher & Son at 31 Arch Street in Greenwich, CT. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation, held on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 5 pm to 8 pm. Burial will be private.
