Aaron Matthew Gamble, 42, of Greenwood, Arkansas, with his son Landry, stepped into the presence of his Lord and Savior Friday, June 18, 2021. He was born September 11, 1978 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. A lifelong resident of Greenwood, he graduated from Greenwood High School in 1996. He graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education and in 2006 with a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership. Through his twenty-one year educational career at Greenwood, Aaron taught Algebra I, AP Calculus, and PreCalculus, coached football, drove a bus, and was the voice of the Bulldogs at Smith Robinson Stadium. As an administrator, he was Assistant Principal for seven years and Principal for four years of Greenwood Junior High School, Assistant Principal of Greenwood High School. Aaron had recently assumed the position of Greenwood High School Principal, his long term career goal, a challenge he was excited to conquer.
In 1999 Aaron’s dream came true when he married the love of his life, Tara Williams Gamble. Aaron is survived by Tara and their daughter, Dacie Gamble, both of whom he adored, both of the home; his mother and stepfather, Tresa and Carroll Lowe of Greenwood; his father and stepmother, Jay and Rhonda Gamble of Waveland, MS; brothers, Josh Gamble of Greenwood and Jason (Amy) Gamble of Ocean Springs, MS; sister, Carmon (Mike) Snider of Phoenix, AZ; maternal grandmother, Laverne Wheeler of Greenwood and in-laws, Danny and Kathy Williams of Natural Dam. Aaron was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Wheeler of Greenwood. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, classmates, students, faculty and administrators at GHS.
Aaron loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. He was an active member of Greenwood First Baptist Church where he had served as deacon, life-group leader, choir/praise team member, and was always a willing servant to fulfill any need.
The funeral service to mourn the loss and celebrate the eternal victory of Aaron’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 23 at the H.B. Stewart Arena on the Greenwood High School Campus. Viewing will be Tuesday from 2 – 7 p.m. at the same location with visitation with the family from 5 – 7 p.m. Interment will be at Mount Zion Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Pallbearers will be Josh Ray, Kevin Hesslen, Cody Chatman, Dustin Smith, Jacob Ray and Lance Bridges.
