Betty Lou Pittman, 71, of Hackett, Arkansas passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023, at home. She was born December 24, 1951, in Paso Robles, California, and grew up in Salem, Arkansas. Betty Lou was a member of the Hackett United Methodist Church.
Betty Lou was an Arkansas Public School Educator for 32 years, teaching 28 years for Hackett Public School District. During her career, she taught High School English and K-12 Gifted and Talented Education. She retired in 2008 as the K-6 Library Media Specialist at Hackett Elementary. Betty Lou graduated from Salem High School. She held a BSE in English and an MSE in Gifted and Talented Education from Arkansas Tech University.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bill Pittman of Hackett; two sons, Will Pittman and wife, Melissa of Sulphur Springs and John David Pittman and wife, Kristen of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Parker, Palmer, Liam and Hazel Pittman; two brothers, James Moore and wife, Katie of Goldston, North Carolina and John Moore and wife, Robin of Camp, Arkansas; three sisters, Merry Ann McSpadden and husband, Jim of Bethesda, Arkansas, Christine Moore of LaGrange, Missouri and Carolyn Moore of Tennessee, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth Moore of Camp, Arkansas.
There will be a celebration of life service at 4 p.m., Tuesday, March 28 at Hackett United Methodist Church under direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood, Arkansas. Inurnment of the ashes will take place at a later date with a private family ceremony at Old Union Cemetery.
