Carol was a force of nature. I first met her when she was a nursing student at Arkansas Tech University. As a nursing student, she was assigned to follow a mother/baby postpartum. She made visits to my home after the birth of my second child. We laughed about this throughout our friendship. I loved maternity nursing, while Carol really didn’t care for it.  I’m so grateful that assignment brought us together.    Years later, I joined her as a VA Nurse.  She trained me and served as a mentor..  There are so many memories that will forever be remembered.  But my very favorite has been watching her raise her children and welcoming grandchildren into her life.  Carol may have came across as  being tough as nails, but when she talked about her family the pride and love radiated across her face.   To her children and grands, you were her everything.   My thoughts and prayers are with you.   I’m sure going to miss her.

Carol was feisty but very kind and warm.  A veteran whisperer, no patients  were too difficult for her . She was an inspiration and a great joy to work with.

She was the first person I met when I went for my interview at the VA 17 years ago. She was solid in her morals, and loyal to her friends and family. She worked across the hall from me, and I can still hear her talking about her grand babies💗 You all were her everything!! I am so sorry for your loss.  Let her live in our hearts and memories forever

Carol was a neighbor of mine and my nurse at t he VA. She will be missed as a friend. Rest in peace Carol.

Nanny I love you so much. I’m so glad I got spend 17 years with you and it was the best time of my life. You was my rock and I could count on you to be there for whenever I needed you. You was the best woman to walk this planet. I’m so glad god put you on this earth for me and my family. You made sure us grandkids dreams would come true. I miss you dearly my best friend and I will never forget the memories( baseball tournaments, sleep overs at your house, playing basketball in the front yard, and planting in your follower beds. It is hard to put into words just how much Carol meant to so many. We worked together at the VA for the past 13 years. She was one of my mentors and taught me so much on how to be not only a good nurse but a good person. She was honest and true and told you exactly how it was. I loved that about her. She always offered a helping hand where it was needed or a hug if I was having a bad day. I will always cherish the memories I have with her. My deepest sympathy goes out to all her friends and family. Sending strength and love as you navigate this time of loss.

I started at the Fort Smith VA Clinic at the same time as Carol in the summer of 2000 (part of the OG crew at Fort Smith), and worked with her until summer 2014. We had so many experiences as colleagues, from frustrating to sad to hilarious (so much more of the latter!) She was my friend whom I loved dearly. I last heard from her in July 2025, and got to tell her once again how much she meant to me,  and how many good memories we had while working together. I extend my condolences to her family.

Carol was my preceptor when I first came to the VA.  Carol had a very unique way of helping me adjust from the private healthcare world, to the federal government world.  She, unknowingly, taught me far more about nursing than she could have ever known.  Always with a smile and a warm confidence that she somehow passed on to me. Carol quickly became a friend and a confidant. I always enjoyed watching her bristle and squirm when I would blame her for the way I act by telling others that "Carol was my mentor, she's the reason I am the way I am".  Gone far too soon my friend, you will be dearly missed.

Carol was a loving mother and her children were her world. She was a great nurse and wonderful friend. I worked with her for 15 years at the VA. She will be greatly missed by patients and friends.

Oh my friend, I’ll miss you so much! So many memories over the past 25 years.  Ballgames, weddings, travels (Alaska, Pennsylvania! & more!) coffee, movies, meals,  laughter and tears.    Even though we weren’t born in the same family, you were family I got to choose. Rest in peace Carol.  Much love always.

Carol befriended me when I started working at the VA 3 years ago.   I had been diagnosed with melanoma, and she was such an encouragement to me and someone I came to depend on for support.  I will miss her very much, but I'm so thankful for the chance I had to work with her and be her friend.
