Garrett “LG” Haralson, 17, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was a senior at Greenwood High School and member of the BETA Club. As a child, he attended First Baptist Church of Fort Smith and later Grace Community Church. He gave his life to Jesus Christ at a Newsboys concert.
Growing up Garrett played several different sports but found wrestling to be his favorite. Garrett was one of the captains of the Greenwood Wresting Team. A four-year starter and an All State Wrestler. He was a member of the three time dual State Champion and two time State Champion team. He dedicated an unbelievable amount of time and effort towards wrestling. His hard work and dedication left an impact on the Greenwood Wrestling Team. Little Garrett or “LG” as he was known, had an attitude and work ethic that reflected on to each of his teammates. He left the mat with grace and dignity, always with his head held high.
Garrett loved the outdoors, doing anything that consisted of hunting, fishing, or catching whatever he could get his hands on. He spent countless days on the farm with his cousin, Sam, and they would always come back with the wildest stories (true or not). He took so much pride in his welding and the progress he made over a short time.
Growing up, Garrett was full of energy, mischief and fun. He cared for every person he met and treated everyone with compassion and respect. He was loved by everyone he met and his smile was one no one will forget. He was the kid everyone loved.
Garrett had a special bond with his sister, Leighton. Growing up, his favorite thing was to play jokes on her, whether it was chasing her and her friends around or hiding in her room waiting to pop out and scare her. That bond became stronger as they got older and will always be with Leighton.
His smile will be remembered forever.
He is survived by his mother, Sharon Hargis; his father, Robert Haralson, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Mary Neal of Fort Smith and Robert Haralson, Sr. of Fort Smith; his maternal grandmother, Carolyn Hargis, of Huntsville, AR; sister, Leighton Haralson of the home; brothers, Tanner Haralson of Austin, TX and Taylor Haralson of Fort Smith; special friend, Bella King; aunts, Deanna and Greg Simpkins and Denise and Gary Box; cousins, Seth, Sam and Sarah Beth Box, Brant and Danielle Simpkins, Cameron Simpkins and Kalie and Nic Perry and several other family members and many friends.
