Rev. Gerald Dewayne McGahan of Abbott, Arkansas passed Sunday, March 30, 2025. Gerald was born October 24, 1949 in Sherrill, Arkansas to Thomas R. and Bernice (Goecke) McGahan. He was a retired minister.
Gerald was preceded in death by the love of his life, Joyce Faye Ross, they were married February 1, 1973 in Needmore, Arkansas. He was also preceded by his siblings, Juanita Loyed-Cooke and Kenneth and Michael McGahan.
Gerald is survived by one brother, Donald (Linda) McGahan of Fort Smith, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews, who were a huge part of his life, Angela Meriweather of Garner, AR, Kendra Criddle of Bryant, AR and Tommy (Roxanne) McGahan Greenwood, AR; brothers in law, Orval, Floyd, Everett Rose and a sister in law, Ila Ross, who he loved as his own siblings.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, April 3 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Mount Harmony Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday from 1 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Gerald's neighbors and many friends who have been by his side and helped him with his trips to the grocery store, bank, doctors and many calls to check on his daily needs.
