

James Leslie “Mudcat” Metcalf passed away the morning of January 18th, 2016, surrounded by his family at his home in Greenwood, Arkansas. Jim was born in Wurzburg Germany on August 29th, 1956. A graduate of the University of Arkansas – Monticello (’80), and a former employee of Travis Lumber Co. where he worked as a Procurement Forester; Mudcat loved the woods, his work, his family, and his friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his father James Metcalf Sr., his mother Judith Metcalf, and his father-in-law John Rogers. He is survived by his wife Danthea Metcalf, his daughters Kara Fink and Holly Kelley, his sister Jean Metcalf, his grandchildren Sadie Fink, James Fink, and Lola Kelley, his mother-in-law Patricia Rogers, his sister-in- law and brother-in-law Terry and Shree Bryant, his sons-in-law James Kelley and Bob Fink, and of course, Gator.
Funeral service will be 10 am Thursday, January 21 at Greenwood First Baptist Church with interment at Bethesda Cemetery in Camden, Arkansas under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood.
Visitation will be 1-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will visit with friends from 5-7 pm
.
The pallbearers will be Mark Beasley, David Beasley, Lenny Lott, Ron Parsley, David Hunt, and Stewart Rowell. Jim Metcalf was, and will continue to be a Legend.
