Jeanette M. Whitler, 57, of Girard, Illinois passed away Monday morning, February 8, 2021 at her residence in Girard. Jeanette was born August 29, 1963 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the daughter of Roy and Marie (King) Phillips. Jeanette graduated from Greenwood High School in 1981. She married Jeffrey Whitler on June 19, 1999 in Thayer, IL. Jeanette worked as a Registered Nurse for the State of Arkansas at the Department of Children and Family Services. After moving to Illinois, she became manager of Catherine's in Springfield, where she retired. She was a member of First Christian Church in Virden, she loved helping others, chatting with friends online, playing Facebook games, watching movies, reading and loved her cats.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 11, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, Illinois. A private family funeral service will be held Friday, February 12 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard and a local funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 16 at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with burial at Old Jenny Lind Cemetery. Viewing will Monday from 1 – 7 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home.
Jeanette is survived by her husband, Jeffrey A. Whitler of Girard, IL; mother, Marie Phillips of Greenwood; son, Joel Carman of Ft. Smith; daughter, Jennifer Whitler of Girard, IL; brother, Paul Phillips and wife, Sonya of Oklahoma City, OK and two grandchildren. Jeanette was preceded in death by her father, Roy Phillips.
Memorials may be made to Animal Protective League in Springfield, Illinois.
