Jerry Carter, 77, of Greenwood, Arkansas passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024 in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born November 9, 1946 in Fort Smith to Winford Ace and Pearl Sedonia (Craig) Carter. He was the owner of B&C Auto Parts, retired manager for Austin Powder Company, member of the Greenwood First Baptist Church and was a former City Councilman. He loved serving the community of Greenwood. He also served in the Army Reserve during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his son, Dale Carter and wife, Laura of Greenwood; one daughter, Shelly Kern of Greenwood; one sister, Peggy Green of Lavaca; sisters-in-law, Pam Carter, Susie Butler and Cheryl Craig (Larry) all of Greenwood, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sondra Carter; two brothers, Charlie and Terry Carter; one sister, Patsy Johnson and one great grandchild, Mason Carter.
Visitation with the family will be 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 22 at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood. Inurnment will be at Oak Valley Cemetery.
