Julia Ann (Moore) Long, age 62, passed away on October 3, 2024 in Fort Smith, Arkansas following a brief illness. Julie was born on August 19, 1962 in Arkansas City, Kansas to Jack and Lucille Moore. She graduated from Arkansas City High School and Northeastern State University where she obtained a degree in accounting, and later received her CPA certification. Julie met her future husband, John Long, while working at Homeland Groceries in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They were married on May 8, 1991.
Early in her accounting career, Julie took a job with Baldor Electric Company as the Plant Accountant in Westville, Oklahoma. Within a couple of years, she was promoted to a Baldor Core Team position which led them to move to their current residence in Greenwood, Arkansas. Julie held a variety of managerial positions during her career at Baldor including Corporate Controller, Supply Chain Manager, and Business Integration Manager. She retired from Baldor in 2021 so that she could spend more time with friends and family. While being with friends and family was her favorite activity, she also enjoyed traveling, all things Greenwood Bulldogs and Arkansas Razorbacks sports, cooking, and reading. Her enjoyment of reading led to her volunteering with Friends of the Library for the Scott-Sebastian Regional Library, where she was quickly elected as president.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Lucille Moore. She is survived by her husband, John; brothers, Randy and wife, Sharon and John and wife, Karen; five stepchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Loft at Stone Oak, 3411 Old Chismville Road, Greenwood, Arkansas 72936 on Tuesday October 8 at noon. A meal will be included, and casual attire is requested.
