Joni Cox was born into this world on July 5, 1961 to R.G. and Sharon (Shrum) Black and she completed her journey on May 15, 2026. She left this world holding the hand of her husband, Randy Cox, who loved her for almost 50 years.
Joni’s earthly journey wasn’t easy, she raised a son as a single mom. She overcame breast cancer, by the grace of God. Joni was raised in a Christian home, she had Godly wisdom and a heart to love others, especially the needy. She worked at Whirlpool Corporation in Fort Smith for over 29 years. She retired when they shut down in 2012.
Before reuniting with Randy, the love of her life, she was on her own for many years. During those years she was kept busy with raising her son and then got to be “Nonie” to her granddaughter, Katie.
She is survived by her husband, Randy Cox of Cameron, Oklahoma; her mom, Sharon Woodruff of Greenwood; sister, Pam Thompson of Mansfield; her son, Chestin Greenwood and wife, Ruby; granddaughter, Katelyn “Katie” Greenwood; her mother-in-law, Georgia Cox; two sisters-in-law, Gayla Moses and husband, Danny and Ramona Cox; her step-daughter, Lindsey Cox and grandchildren, Colton and Kaelin; many nieces and nephews and lots of family and friends. Joni was preceded in death by her daddy, R.G. Black. In our hearts, we know we will all be reunited someday soon.
