Linda Ann Austin, 79, passed from this life Saturday, November 29, 2025 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Linda was born November 16, 1946 in Pine Bluff to James Rodger and Geneva Vent. Linda graduated from Woodlawn High School then married her high school sweetheart, Larry Austin on October 7, 1966. She graduated from the University of Arkansas, Monticello with a nursing degree. Linda worked at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Labor and Delivery and later served as supervisor of that department. Larry and Linda relocated to Mansfield, Arkansas in 1985. Linda worked in Labor and Delivery at Mercy before transitioning to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital. She worked at HealthSouth for 20 years before retiring. During her retirement she worked at Pink Bud Nursing Center.
Linda was a devoted wife to Larry for 58 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was our biggest supporter and loudest cheerleader through life. Linda cherished spending time with family. She enjoyed shopping trips, family vacations, and preparing holiday meals for the entire family. Linda was a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church.
Linda is survived her daughters, Tracy Ballew and husband, Jimmy of Mansfield, AR and Ashley Monks and husband, Todd of McAlester, OK; grandchildren, Lauren White and husband, Ryan of McAlester, OK, Magen Monks and Carter Monks of McAlester, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Laikyn White and Rilyn White of McAlester, OK and her sister, June Lawson of Woodlawn, AR. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry and her parents.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday before the service. Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery in Rison, AR Thursday, December 4, at 11 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ballew, Todd Monks, Carter Monks, Ryan White, Stan Carter, and Don Rodebush. Honorary pallbearers will be Bro. J.H. Carter and Phil Harris.
