Peggy Ruth Nelke

Peggy Ruth Nelke of Pocola, Oklahoma was born on April 22, 1950 and passed away on April 22, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was retired from Fort Smith Public Schools Child Nutrition Department with over twenty years of service. She loved cooking and taking care of her family and doing anything that her grandchildren wanted her to do. She was a lifelong member of Pocola First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Nelke and her parents, Richard and Juanita Dodd, a brother, Gary Dodd and one granddaughter, Ryleigh Nelke. She is survived by one son, Scott Nelke and wife, Tina; one daughter, Teresa Underwood and husband, Jason; four grandchildren, Daniel Underwood and wife, Faith, Trenton Underwood, Raychel Nelke and Ryanne Nelke all of Pocola, Oklahoma; one sister, Marla Young and husband, Steve of Fort Smith and two nephews, that she loved as though they were her grandchildren, Andrew Young of Fayetteville and Ben Young of Fort Smith.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 27 at Evans and Miller Funeral Home in Pocola, Oklahoma with interment at Old Union Cemetery in Hackett, Arkansas under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood. Viewing will be Tuesday from 1 – 8 p.m. at Evans and Miller Funeral Home in Pocola where family will visit with friends from 6 – 8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Larry Tuck, Tommy Tuck, Andrew Young, Ben Young, Daniel Underwood and Trenton Underwood.
