Shirley Woods, 77, of Greenwood, Arkansas passed from this life Thursday, September 5, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. She was born February 14, 1947 to Vinas and Elsie Wimber. But when they were uable to care for her, she was adopted by her aunt and uncle, John and Luvena Cottingham, who raised her as their own.
She attended Greenwood Schools, graduating in 1965. She married her high school sweetheart on May 15, 1964, and they lived in the little community of Washburn.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 60+ years, Roger Woods; her granddaughter, Heather Foy and her husband, Harrison of Georgia; two precious great grandchildren, Haven and Holden, also of Georgia and two sisters, Winona Owens and husband, Gene of Pocola and Rose Richardson of Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by her three children, Gina, Allen and Brad Woods.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Monday, September 9 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with a private family inurnment at Washburn Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, before the service.
