William Manuel Laster, Jr., 82, of Greenwood, Arkansas passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026 in Booneville. He was born on January 7, 1944 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Manuel and Margie Laster. He had one sister, Nancy. Bill grew up on their small farm and graduated from Greenwood High School. He married Edna Tucker in 1963 and was employed at Armour Meat Packing Company and later Tankersley Brothers. He cut pulp wood or whatever it took to support his family and was then employed at Consolidated Freightways until he retired and continued to work on the farm. He loved his family.
Bill was a member of the Dayton Church of Christ. He loved the outdoors and loved living the farm life. As a young man he loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife, Edna of 62 years; three children, William Allen “Sam” Laster and wife, Samantha, Joseph Blaine Laster and wife, Kim and Julie Brashear and husband, Darrell; seven grandchildren, Kyle Laster and wife, Haley, Tyler Basham and wife, Katie, Whitney Borst and husband, Ryan, Trevor Brashear and wife, Brooke, Kristina Piroutek and husband, Joseph, Evan Gray and husband, Eric, Ashley Vines and husband, Corey; eleven great grandchildren, Dalli, Paislee, Wyatt and Michael Laster, Maverick and Mallory Borst, Rhett and Wrenly Brashear, Harrison and Foster Piroutek and Jaxon Vines and nieces, nephews and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Margie Laster and his sister, Nancy Floyd and her husband, Jerry.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 22 at Mount Harmony Cemetery in Greenwood under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
