Alice had a special devotion to people in need, and worked for 26 years at OHSU, mostly as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She enjoyed getting to know her patients and taking good care of them. In her spare time, Alice was involved with competitive ballroom dancing, where she did all her own choreography. She could also be found baking and cooking for the large family gatherings she liked so much. In her later years, she enjoyed knitting and crochet. She was also an avid gardener, loving the sunshine and beauty of being outdoors. Alice was a caring and compassionate woman, with a strong work ethic. She was a good listener, and could be trusted to give advice in a way that would lift hearts, rather than disparaging.
Two of Alice’s children preceded her in death, Mickey Mundlin and Lester Sealey. She is survived by her daughter, Claudeene Garcia of Gresham, OR; son John Cate of Portland, OR; grandchildren Richard and James Mundlin of Hillsboro, Christopher and Charles Mundlin of Chinook, MT, Mary Alice of Portland, Heather Cate of Portland, Misty and Danelia of Portland, Antonio Garcia of San Diego, CA, Jose and John Garcia of Portland; great-grandchildren Richard, Taylor, Michael, Jonathan, James, Levi, Seth, Elizabeth, Owen and Constance; and great-great-grandchild Kimber.
A funeral service will be held at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home on Monday March 26, 2012 at 11am, with viewing from 9am-11am.
