Allan M. Metcalf, a resident of Gresham, Oregon, died on July 29, 2011 in Portland. He was 87 years of age.
Allan was born on December 26, 1923 in Conneaut, Ohio and was the son of Frank and Velma (Jack) Metcalf. He grew up and attended school in Cleveland Heights, Ohio and attended Cleveland College. He served in the United States Army from 1949-1950 and was honorably discharged.
Allan worked for the State of Oregon for many years in Salem, Canyonville, Grants Pass and Pendleton. He also worked in Oakland, California and Seattle, Washington. He later retired.
He enjoyed painting, lawn bowling and traveling. He also enjoyed collecting stamps, coins and maps.
Allan is survived by his sister, Marian Churchill of Salem, nephew, Tom Churchill of Gresham, niece, Katie (husband Dan) Givens of Gresham along with his great nieces and nephew Sarah and Kara Churchill and Erin, Joe and Juliann Givens.
A private family service will be held. Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Bateman Carroll Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
