AnnaBelle James, 97, of Corbett, OR, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Corbett Community Church, 34309 NE Mershon Rd, Corbett, OR, on November 2, 2024, at 10:00 AM. A private burial took place at Mountain View Cemetery in Corbett on October 9, 2024.
AnnaBelle was born on September 10, 1927, in Callaway, Nebraska, to Albert and Myrtle Scott. At the age of 12, after her mother's passing, she took on the responsibility of raising her three younger brothers—a task that showcased her strength and selflessness early on. She later met Roy James in North Platte, Nebraska, and the two were married on May 3, 1944, in Prosser, WA. Together, they moved to Corbett in the late 1950s and shared 63 years of marriage before Roy’s passing on November 18, 2007.
Their life together was filled with adventure, as they traveled the country, working on the railroad, gold mining, and even owning a restaurant. In time, AnnaBelle felt the pull to settle down, and they purchased their cherished property in Corbett. While Roy managed the farm and ranch, AnnaBelle began a career at Precision Castparts in 1954, where she made her mark as the company’s first female supervisor. She was well-known for pioneering wax assembly processes, tooling and Employee Involvement Teams. An initiative that greatly enhanced quality and productivity.
AnnaBelle and Roy loved spending time outdoors, enjoying fishing, camping, and simply being surrounded by family and friends. Their home was always open, offering warmth and shelter to relatives, foster children, and anyone in need.
In addition to her career, AnnaBelle was an ordained minister, deeply dedicated to mentoring youth and young adults. A breast cancer survivor, she embodied resilience and compassion, leaving a lasting legacy of love, kindness, and strength.
She is survived by her daughter Rebecca (Becky) Bruns of Corbett; her son Jim James of Gresham; grandsons Derek Bruns and Austin Bruns of Corbett; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Arrangements are being handled by Bateman Carroll Funeral Home.
