Aris Andrew ‘Andy’ Campbell, passed peacefully from a short battle with cancer, on the morning of 02/02/2020. He was preceded in death by his mom Voula (2014), and brother George (2019).
Andy was born January 7, 1953 in Riverside, CA to Voula & George Campbell. He went to Rogue River Academy and graduated from Ashland High School. He then went on to receive his nursing degree from Southern Oregon State College. He was known for his outgoing, sometimes quirky, but always loveable personality. He always had a smile on his face!
He went on to meet Wendy Sue Hall in 1976 while they worked at Rogue Valley Hospital in Medford, OR. While there, he worked as a charge nurse in the intensive care unit. He was also in charge of Ashland Community Hospital for 3 years while he finished his bachelor’s degree so he could go to the College of Naturopathic medicine in Portland, OR.
They married in 1977 and soon after welcomed their first daughter, Amanda, in 1980. 2 years later in 1982, Becky was born in Ashland. In 1984 they moved to Gresham, where they have since made their home. In 1986, Carley rounded out the family as the 3rd girl! He never once suggested he’d want anything but three girls!
Andy decided to go back to school after being a nurse for many years. However, he wasn’t interested in being just any ole’ doctor. He believed in prevention and healing through alternative measures. He graduated from The College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1987. He was known for talking to his patients so he really knew them, and was well-loved by all. He was an intuitive healer, and truly loved every day he got to go to work.
Andy was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and shooting bow & arrows. His most favorite hobby, however, was shooting. He taught all three girls to shoot, and all of his grandchildren.
Andy is survived by many people who love him more than words can express. His wife of 42 years, Wendy, three daughters: Amanda (Shane) Bethune, Becky Campbell, and Carley (Robert) Babcock. He also has 8 grandchildren: Aris & Aurelia Bethune (Amanda), Tyler Cross & Alyjuh Hatton (Becky), and Riley & Braden Munster and Thaddeus & Unborn Baby Babcock (Carley). He is survived by his father, George Campbell, and 3 siblings who love him dearly: Susan Calzaretta, Michelle Hoque (and Gary), and Ann Campbell of Medford.
Donations in his name can be made to the College of Naturopathic Medicine, or the NRA.
