Bob was born on June 10, 1956 in Delano, California. He was raised in Bakersfield, California and graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1974. Then, he attended and graduated from Arizona Automotive Technical Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. During most of his adult life, he worked as a technician and then as a service advisor in many auto dealerships. He made the move from California to Oregon (Salem) in 1977 where he met the love of his life, Darla. They were married in 1980, moved to Portland and then Gresham, where they raised their two children, Holly and Tanner. In 1995, Bob changed career paths and began working as a warehouseman for Viking Automatic Sprinkler Co., where he built overhead fire protection sprinkler systems. He retired from Viking in 2018.
Bob gave back to his community in so many ways and made a LOT of friends along the way. He was involved in several volunteer organizations and many positions over the years, including Rose City Classics Car Club, Cascade Pacific Council - Boys Scouts of America, Mt. Hood Bowling League, Gresham Breakfast Lions Club and Neighbors Helping Neighbors. He loved being outdoors and during the past 7 years could be seen proudly towing his massive RV with his big boy truck!
Those who preceded Bob are his mother, Bobbie J. West (Albany) and his dad, William Joseph Pierce (Bakersfield). Bob is survived by his wife, Darla; daughter, Holly Miller; son, Tanner Pierce; son-in-law, Casey Miller; and those cute little apples of his eye – grandson/granddaughter – Cooper and Mina Miller. Also, surviving him are his (twin) brother, Billy Pierce (Portland); sisters, Treanna Pierce and Annette Lyday (Bakersfield); brother-in-law, Sheldon Lyday (Bakersfield); and his stepmom, Judy Pierce (Bakersfield). He was a favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews, as well. Not to be left out is his favorite fur baby… Heidi. His sweet golden retriever will surely miss her dad!
