

Bonnie Jean Gill passed away on February 26, 2011. She was 84. A visitation will be held from 10 AM to 5 PM on Thursday, March 3 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 4 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Gresham. Private burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Portland.
Bonnie was born September 19, 1926 in Melbourne, Missouri to Bert and Helen (Desmond) Rhoades. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines, Iowa. She earned her nursing degree from Missouri Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri and worked as a Registered Nurse for the Red Cross for 35 years. Bonnie married Irving Paasch on June 1, 1956 and they settled in Portland. He passed away on December 3, 1982. She remarried Emil Gill in October of 1987 and moved to Gresham where he was residing.
After retiring from her nursing career, Bonnie continued working in the medical field by regularly volunteering at Mt. Hood Medical Center. Retirement offered her more time to travel the world. Bonnie travelled to many different places including Hong Kong, China, Australia, Fiji, Panama and Egypt. She participated in a bowling league and each year her league would play a tournament in Reno. Bonnie enjoyed these trips to Reno because she also loved gambling. She loved dogs and almost always had a pet dog of her own.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her first husband, Irving Paasch and second husband, Emil Gill. She is survived by her son-in-law, Gilbert Hanley of Gresham, Oregon; granddaughter, Laura Kent and her husband Jeff; granddaughter Beth Hunter; grandson David Hanley and his wife, Kris; four great-grandchildren, Valarie Milam and her husband Danny; Dr. Kyle Kent; Rachel Hunter; and Micah Hunter; and one great-granddaughter, Isabella Milam.
