Donald Albert Erspamer of Portland, OR, beloved husband of Helen “Dody” Erspamer, passed away July 9th, 2017. Don was an only child born May 17, 1927 in Tacoma, WA to parents Albert Richard "Dick" and Violet Erspamer and enjoyed a happy childhood with his many cousins and friends. Don met his future wife Dody while in high school and the two were married in June of 1948. Don was a devoted husband, a loving & nurturing father, and a great provider for his wife and 4 children. Don served in the Navy during World War II and after the war had a successful 33-year career in building-material sales, rising to the position of Territory Manager with CertainTeed Corporation and winning their coveted “Territory Manager of the Year” award in 1972. Although Don was dedicated to his career (and the occasional golf game with his buddies), he loved being home with his family. Together they would spend time camping or at their lake-cabin property in Olympia, WA. Don & Dody also enjoyed traveling and took numerous trips to exotic locations around the world: all courtesy of company awards. Don was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Violet, his daughter Karen, and his wife of 67 years Dody. He is survived by his children Keith, Kurt, & Kathy, his daughters-in-law, Diana and Barbara, his grandchildren, Nicole, Korrin, Danette, Donald, Brooke, Nick, & Kayla, and his 6 great-grandchildren, Inara, Drake, Ewan, Cordelia, Isabelle, and Aliviana. The funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home on July 21st at 2:00 PM. There will be a viewing prior to the service beginning at 12:00 PM. Don will be laid to rest with his wife in Willamette National Cemetery.
