

Donald S. Nesheim, 83 of Boring OR, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012. He was born on April 22, 1928 in Hiwood, Minnesota to John and Esther (Adolphson) Nesheim. He grew up in Minnesota with seven siblings and served in the US Navy from 1947 to 1951. He married Erma Gallant on November 26, 1952 in Portland, Oregon. Donald moved to Portland in 1951 and to Boring in 1978. He worked as a machinist for many years and retired in 1985 after 22 years as a farm equipment salesman for Ellis Equipment. He was a president of the Minnesota Society of Oregon and member of Savage Memorial Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and a deacon. He was a woodcutter, sold Christmas Trees and was an avid deer hunter. He enjoyed driving, which included taking people to medical appointments and many trips to Minnesota to keep in contact with family.
He is survived by his wife Erma Nesheim of Boring OR; daughter Dr. Sandra Nesheim of Salinas CA; son Rev. Dr. Steven Nesheim (Kristin) of Kelseyville CA; brothers Ralph Nesheim of Warroad MN and Doran Nesheim of Boring OR; sisters Ruby Smith and Phyllis Roach both of Portland OR; two grandchildren Monique Rapuzzi and Jeffery Henao and two great grandchildren Elise Rapuzzi and Ayanna Henao.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 1:00pm at Willamette National Cemetery. Memorial Services will be on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 11:00am at Savage Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1740 SE 139th Avenue, Portland OR 97233. Donations may be made to the Building and Grounds Fund in care of the Church or to the charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon.
