Gresham resident since 1971, Dorothy Mae Wallace died at home on February 17, 2010 at the age of 81. Dorothy's "Celebration of Life" will be held at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, Saturday, February 20, at 2:00 pm. There will be visitation on Friday, February 19th, 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Saturday,until the service. Private interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
Dorothy was born March 28, 1928, in Eureka, California, the only child of Daniel M. and Clara (Brenden) Graves. She was raised in The Dalles, Oregon by Worth (step-father) and Clara Pugh and moved to Portland where she graduated from Jefferson High School in 1946. She married her "soul mate", Roy Allen Wallace, on September 25, 1948. Sadly, he preceded her in death on Father's Day, June of 1979. Dorothy's exemplary life has been dedicated to God as well as to loving and caring for her seven children. She was a true mother to the end and many she encountered remarked on her as one of the sweetest people they'd ever met.
Survivors include her children, Bruce, Steven, Dave, Ruth, Tom, Sue and Nancy, all of Oregon, and 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
