Elsie was born in Langdon, North Dakota on March 1, 1915 to Alfred and Amelia Borth. She grew up on farms in North Dakota and had to work like a man! In March of 1932 she married Paul Davis. They started life together by farming, then Paul got a job hauling coal and working for the highway department, so they moved to Wing, North Dakota. They lived in Wing until 1941 then moved to Seneca Oregon. Shortly before Paul retired from Edward Hines Logging Company, Elsie and Paul moved to Canyon City, Oregon. After Paul died, Elsie moved to Vashon, Washington. Elsie later returned to Oregon. Elsie spent her last years at Princeton Village in Clackamas, Oregon.
Elsie and Paul had four children Dorothy, Alice, Roy and Edith. Elsie was the oldest child of Alfred and Amelia Borth. Sadly all of Elsie’s eight siblings preceded her in death, as did her husband Paul, her son Roy and daughter Alice.
Elsie only had an 8th grade education but she worked hard to learn and understand the English language as German was her native language. Elsie loved to read and cook. She would only use a recipe when she was making something for the first time. She was a good seamstress and also enjoyed embroidery and knitting. Crocheting was her favorite hobby and she has blessed many with her works of art.
Elsie lived a long, full life of hardships and blessings. She will be missed by daughters Dorothy Golik of Salem, Oregon, Edith Van Ness of Seattle, Washington, 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Elsie did not want a funeral or memorial service, her request was to be cremated and laid to rest in Canyon City because it is peaceful and has a beautiful view. Her family has honored her request.
She was welcomed into heaven with great joy and celebration
