Eugene A. Kauffman

Eugene graduated from Cooper, Iowa High School in 1936. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy at the University of Iowa. In 1941.

Eugene married Jean Winders on April 1, 1945, on Easter Sunday, in Sioux City, Iowa. He worked as a Pharmacist at Walgreens for eight years in the Midwest. In 1949 he moved to Portland and later moved to Gresham in 1973. He was a pharmacist at Fred Meyer for 33 years, retiring in 1982.

Hobbies included photography, travel, antique watch collecting and fishing.

Survivors include his loving wife Jean, of Gresham, two daughters, Joan and her husband Patrick Harrington, of Oregon City, OR., and Janet Rice of Kalispell, Montana, 5 grandchildren, Sean (Jeseka) Harrington, Melissa (Brian) Youd, Michael Harrington and Cynthia Hatfield and 5 great-grandchildren. Eugene was preceded in death by his daughter Diana Hatfield.

Memorial service will be on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Sanctuary Church located at 3101 SE Orient Drive in Gresham.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the University of Iowa in support of the College of Pharmacy Opportunity Fund.
