Eugene Russell Martin

Eugene Russell Martin was born February 17, 1932, in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, third child of six to Carrie and Ellis Martin. After moving to Oregon, he graduated from Molalla High School in 1950. In 1952 he served in the Army 59th Reconnaissance and ended his service in 1960 in the Reserves. He received two medals, the Army Occupation Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was married to Donna Mae Olson in 1952, and worked for Mulino Sash & Door. Together they had 5 children. After Donna’s death in 1965, Eugene married Ruth Marie Richards.

Eugene was an entrepreneur and he and Ruth began their own dairy supply and equipment business in 1967. In 1987, Eugene began to sell life insurance and then medical supplemental insurance which he continued successfully until his illness in July. He lived a life of faith and is honored by a great many people from his place of worship.

He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, his sisters Gwendolyn and Marian, brother Otis, and son, Russell Eugene Martin in January of 2013. He is survived by his wife Ruth, of 48 years, his children: Pamela, Patricia, Ronald, and Paula, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers Ellis and Edwin, and many nieces and nephews. He was a beloved husband, devoted father and grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all.

Viewing will be held this week at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon, Tuesday from 1pm–5pm, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 am–5pm. A Memorial Service for Eugene, will be held at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon on Friday, October 18,th at 3 p.m.
