Flora graduated from Roseburg High School. She worked in a bank in Eugene, Oregon until 1955. In 1955 while visiting in Alaska she meet her future husband Richard Hughes for the first time. They fell in love and were married on October 20, 1956 in The Territory of Alaska, in Spenard, Alaska.
She was a school room mother from 1963-1978. Flora enjoyed home decorating and traveling.
No public services will be held. Private burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
Flora is survived by her loving husband Richard Hughes (USAF Retired), daughter Jennifer Hughes, Portland, OR., son, Eric Hughes, Tillamook, OR., daughter, Amy Cole, Portland, OR., and son Greg Hughes, Gresham, OR., 6 grandchildren and extended family in Seattle, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Flora was preceded in death her father and mother and her two sisters, Alta and Joyce.
