

Frances Elizabeth Hamlet died on February 1, 2012. She was born in Walla Walla, Washington to Hazel Johnson. At age 15, she was married to Alexander Nielsen, later she married Frank Young, and later, William Hamlet, who passed in 1977.
Frances worked as a bookkeeper and as a waitress, but spent much of her life as a volunteer for Portland Adventist, helping in patient transport for 21 years. She had a sharp mind, enjoying puzzles, crosswords, and Sudoku. Frances also played bingo, went bowling, in which she won many awards, and in her younger years, square dancing. As she got older, Frances enjoyed watching movies at home with her daughter, Teresa. She also made trips to the casino, and was treated to a trip to Las Vegas by her son Dennis for her 90th birthday. Frances is missed by her four children, Dennis Young, Steve Young, Teresa Mandzij, and Paula Nielsen, as well as grandchildren Debbie Wilson, Pam Vetter, David Vetter, Daniella Young; and great-grandchildren Alyssa Wilson, Christi Blum, Michael Blum, Nicholas Bretch, and Joshua Vetter (deceased).
A celebration of Frances’ life will be held on June 3, 2012 for family and close friends by invitaion only. Donations can be made to Martha and Mary's Ministry. Arrangements under the direction of Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, Gresham, OR.
