Frederick A. Dixson

Frederick Andrew Dixson, 85 of Portland OR, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2014. He was born on May 14, 1929 in Miller, South Dakota to Robert Howard and Emma Elizabeth (Holzwarth) Dixson. Fred graduated from Miller High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952. He married Naomi Ruth Jones on November 8, 1952 in Washington D.C. and she preceded him in death on September 24, 2003. Fred worked as an aircraft mechanic for 38 years with United Airlines (formally Capital Airlines) until his retirement in 1990. He was a longtime member of Lynchwood Church of God, Gresham Lodge No. 1805 B.P.O. Elks and the Sky Knights RC Airplane Club. He enjoyed fishing and camping, traveled extensively and loved the many family activities.

Fred is survived by his sons Mike Dixson (Beverly) of Clackamas OR, Lyle Dixson (Tam Nguyen) of Houston TX and Daniel Dixson (Tara) of Albany OR; sister-in-law Joyce Dixson of Ithaca NY; grand-children Thu Duong (Roxana) of Houston TX, Candice Dixson of Albany OR, Valerie Crawford (Joe) of Vancouver WA, Paul Dixson of Albany OR and Grant Dixson of Bend OR and great grandchildren Lindsey Duong, Ashley Duong, Nathan Duong, Gage Moss, Diana Duggins, Jailyn Duggins, Ben Crawford, Rachel Crawford and Chloe Crawford. In addition to his wife, Fred was also preceded in death by his brother Howard Dixson of Ithaca NY in 2012.

A Reception and Viewing will be held from 9:30am to 10:30am with a Celebration of Fred’s Life to follow at 10:30am on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Lynchwood Church of God, 3818 SE 174th in Portland OR. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 12:30pm at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon.
