

Gillis Arnold Estep, 86 of Gresham OR, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016. He was born on May 2, 1930 in Cumberland, Kentucky to Anst and Sarah Estep. Gillis married Vera Jane Kronour on November 10, 1951 in Stevenson, Washington and moved to Gresham on August 7, 1951.
Gillis was a veteran of the US Army before working at Reynolds Aluminum for 13 years. He then worked for Reynold’s School District for 25 years before retiring in 1989 as a warehouse supervisor. Gillis also served as a volunteer firefighter for Corbett Fire District 14.
Gillis loved his Lord and Savior and was a member for more than 30 years at Wood Village Baptist Church. He enjoyed 26 years as a snowbird in Yuma, Arizona and was known for designing and building Gold Rock Ranch El Rocko Golf Course in Winterhaven, California.
Gillis was preceded in death by his wife Vera Estep and his son Guy Estep. He is survived by his sons Gary Estep (Ginny) of LaCenter WA, Greg Estep (Denise) of Sunriver OR and Gunnar Estep of Gresham OR; eight grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Gillis will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Wood Village Baptist Church, 23601 NE Arata Road, Wood Village OR 97060. Private interment at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Arrangements entrusted to Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham, Oregon.
