December 12, 2019 at his home.
John was born on August 24, 1943 in Salem, Oregon. He was the middle of three children born to Carl “Hank” and Dorothy(Goodrich) Rosenback. He was raised in Cascade Locks, Oregon and proudly joined the Army in 1967. He served as a Huey helicopter mechanic in the Vietnam War for two years. He earned several medals and citations during his service.
During his nearly 40 year career, John worked for Manchester Distributors and later General Distributors as a draft technician. He was proud to say, “He kept the beer flowing in the East Portland Metro Area”. After retirement, he took up wood working as a hobby. He had a special affinity for building bird houses, and enjoyed feeding birds and squirrels in his yard. He was currently restoring a 1966 Ford Galaxie 7-Litre, a car identical to one he owned prior to enlisting in the Army.
John generously donated to a variety of organization and left a portion of his estate for a college scholarship earmarked for high school graduates from Cascade Locks.
John was preceded in death by his parents Hank and Dorothy and a younger brother Jim.
John is survived by two daughters Sheila and Laurel, one grandson Jordan, and his sister Gayle Darr.
It is sad to say that he was the last of the “Rosenbacks”.
