

Celebration of life gathering will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 25th at Bateman Carroll funeral home located at 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham. John passed away April 23rd, 2019 in Portland surrounded by his family's love. He was 61 years old.
John Michael Takemoto was born December 21, 1957 in Portland, Oregon. He was the youngest child of Minoru and May Takemoto. Raised in Portland, he graduated from Grant high school, class of 1976.
Earlier in life, John worked alongside his father, Minoru in the landscaping business. On the weekends they enjoyed foraging for matsutake mushrooms.
One of John's favorite activities was fishing. He often recalled some of his best memories were fishing with his son Eric.
John enjoyed working as a flagger. It kept him busy, and he had made a close friend in a coworker.
Family and friends recall John as being a great host. He always managed to make it fun for all of the generations. Whether it was a birthday or a holiday, if John was there, he added more fun.
John had a passion for good food. He loved using the barbeque. John enjoyed cooking and often explored new restaurants. He liked to share the experience with loved ones, often taking them to enjoy his latest find.
John enjoyed trips to the casino. Whether it was for a concert, play at the blackjack table, or trying out the buffet, he always had a good time.
John will be remembered for his intelligence and wit, for his spontaneous and fun nature, and for fiercely protecting the ones he loved.
John is survived by his daughter; Lindsey Takemoto (Justin Pai) Mother; May Takemoto, siblings; Joann (David) Logan and Steve (Sandi) Takemoto, Nieces & Nephews; Kimberleigh Logan, Danielle (Ken) Riley, Tom (Katie) Takemoto and Keona Takemoto,
Grand nieces and nephews; Makai & Kimiko Riley, Hannah Whitten, Tyberius Takemoto, Braiden and Athena Bump.
