Joyce passed away August 28th, 2025 with family by her side. She was born November 28th, 1939 in Billings, Montana. Born to Reinhold and Lydia (Lesser) Hofferber, Joyce and her twin sister were the youngest of nine children.
Joyce grew up in Billings and graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1957. After graduation, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she lived, worked, and made lifelong friends. From Chicago, she eventually moved to Portland, where she worked as an office manager for Skyways at the Troutdale Airport. It was there that she met the love of her life, Roy. Joyce and Roy were married in the spring of 1977. During this time, she began her final career with Ritchie Brothers Auctioneers as a field accountant, a role she held until her retirement.
Joyce and Roy built a wonderful life together that kept them busy, yet they always found time for what they loved most – attending rodeos, camping, hunting, and working on their property, which they kept beautifully landscaped. After Roy’s passing, Joyce stayed active by spending time with friends, visiting neighbors, attending Bible study, and tending to her garden. Her yard was her pride and joy, and it was her favorite place to be. Joyce also had a deep love for animals. Her cat, Spiker, and her dogs, Rudy and Harley, filled her home with constant joy and companionship.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Roy; her brothers, Reuben(Jean), Albert(Delia), Donald(Janet), and Arlen(Judy); and her sisters, Alma(Gus), Lila(Bernie), and her twin, Joan. She is survived by her brother LeRoy(Judy), along with many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was a remarkable woman who touched many lives. She will be deeply missed.
