Kathryn Diane Childers

Kathryn was born on January 30, 1944 in Glendale, California and was the daughter of Domminck and Margaret (Pitzer) Poggione. She graduated from Hoover High School in Glendale in 1962 and married Jerry Childers on September 15, 1962 in Burbank, CA.

In 1972, she moved with her family to Gresham, Oregon. She worked for Oregon Trail Savings and Loan in Downtown Gresham and later transferred to their Portland Branch. She also worked for Citi Corp and spent 16 ½ years with U.S. Bank where she worked in the Downtown Portland Branch as a Senior Loan Closer. She retired in 1999 and enjoyed RVing with her husband; wintering in Yuma, Arizona and serving as a Camp Host for the State of Oregon.

Family was very important to Kathryn she was a loving wife and a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, camping and watching the Price is Right. She also enjoyed trips to the Casino where she seemed to have impeccable luck on the slot machines. She also loved her dogs, Peaches and Taco.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Jerry of Fairview, daughter, Tracy Lewis of Bastrop, Texas, sons, Rusty Childers and Randy Childers both of Portland and brother, Robert (wife, Lucy) Poggione Sr. of Bend along with 2 granddaughters, 1 great grandson and 1 great grandchild on the way.

A Celebration of Kathryn’s life will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham.
