

Lenora ”June” Handy, 94 of Troutdale, passed away at home as she wished, Oct. 16, 2014. She was born in Gresham on Jun. 24, 1920 to Orion and Mable (Watson) Myers. She met her husband, Ivan Handy, in the late 1930s and from their union they raised four boys. Lenora was the epitome of a great mother; and was known as the “June Cleaver” of Troutdale. She established structure at home and taught her boys the importance of a good work ethic and character. Lenora enjoyed reading books that were recommended; and she would often start her morning with a cup of coffee and the newspaper. Lenora enjoyed gardening, tole painting, sewing, square dancing, bowling and most of all she enjoyed traveling with her husband of 70 years. Lenora also spent time volunteering for many organizations, some of which were; PTA, Ladies Aide and as a Den Mother. Lenora even made time to go hot air ballooning on her 70th birthday. Lenora is survived by sons, Dale(Bonnie), Gene(Terri), Neil, and Greg(Susan); 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her dedication to her family. A graveside service will be held at the Douglass Pioneer Cemetery in Troutdale on Friday, Oct. 24th at 1pm. A celebration of life gathering will be held at Heidi’s Restaurant in Gresham from 2-5pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Portland Adventist Hospice or a charitable organization of your choice. The family would like to thank Portland Adventist Hospital, Hospice, Home Health and Personal Care for their support, comfort and care.
