Leota Jo Connor passed away on March 29, 2014 in Portland, Oregon. She was born on September 12, 1933 in Sandpoint, Idaho to parents Arthur and Leota Dimmitt; one of 6 children. Jo moved to Portland in 1961, and has resided there since. In 1979, Jo married Albert Morgan Connor, and together they shared nearly 30 years of marriage, until his passing in 2008. She worked for Camps Lumber as the bookkeeper for 14 years, and retired there in 1997. Jo was a long-time member of the Lynchwood Christian Church, and could be seen there every Sunday.
Jo was a champion for justice and fairness, with a fierce belief in standing up for what is right. She was strong and opinionated, but always willing to give help or care to those in need of it. She enjoyed playing card and board games, “I Love Lucy”, and the beach; most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, her daughter, Jody Crawford, and her sisters, Wilda McAninch and Jean MacKaben. She is survived and missed by her daughters Virginia Ross, Lesa Stanley, Tracie Fields, and Tina Alamar; son in law Randy Crawford; grandchildren Trevor, Kimberly, Erin, Jeramy, Sarah, Jessica, Brittney, Jake, Oliva, Tyler, Amanda, Alex, and Alicia; great grandchildren Tatum, Brooklyn, Kennedy, Griffin, and Stephen; and brothers Ivan and Leo Dimmitt.
Jo will be laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery on Friday April 4, 2014 at 9:00am. A memorial service will be held at Lynchwood Christian Church on Sunday April 6, 2014 at 2:00pm.
