

Lois Vivian Maronay, a resident of Boring, Oregon, died on May 17, 2010 in Portland. She was 80 years of age.
Vivian was born on August 14, 1929 in Mission, South Dakota and was the daughter of Joseph and Muriel (Fletcher) Flisram. At age 3, she moved with her family to Oregon where they first resided in the Mid-Willamette Valley. Shortly after, they moved to the Oregon Coast where she attended both Bay City High School and Tillamook High School. She graduated in 1947. She married Donald Maronay on October 2, 1948 in Tillamook, Oregon
After high school, Vivian worked for a brief time for the Tillamook County Treasury Office. Following her marriage to Donald, she ended her employment and focused on being a wife, mom, and homemaker, which she devoted her life to. Later in life, after her children were older, Vivan worked as a Home Health Aide for Clackamas County for a few years and was inspired to go to Nursing School at Mt. Hood Community College. She also studied Horticulture.
The family moved to the Gresham Area in the early 1950’s where they lived in the Centennial District. Vivian was very active in the Centennial School district as a volunteer and a member of the PTA while her children attended school there. In 1968, they moved to Boring, where Vivan was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Sandy.
Vivian had many hobbies in life. She loved gardening and horticulture. She also loved caring for people and the different aspects of the Medical Field. Her greatest love however was her family. She was a hard worker, devoted wife and mom and simply adored time with her grandchildren.
Vivian is survived by her husband, Donald of Boring, sons; Joey Maronay of Boring and Pat Maronay of Gresham and daughters; Candy Pyatt of West Linn, Kathi Marth of Portland, Donni Maronay of Portland and Susie Grassl of Sandy along with 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way. Her brothers; Jack Flisram and Roy Flisram along with her sisters; Maxine Stuck, Dorothy Ketcher and Susie Turner all preceded her in death.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 1:00 pm at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Sandy, Oregon. Visitation will be on Monday, May 24, 2010 from 10:00 am -5:00 pm at Bateman Carroll in Gresham. Private Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made in memory of Vivan to the American Diabetes Association.
