Lyle W. Cumming died on April 11, 2012 in Portland, Oregon at the age of 83 surrounded by his loving family. Lyle was born on March 22, 1929 in Albion, Nebraska to Robert and Mildred (Green) Cumming. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1946. Lyle married his best friend, Corinne Lightner, on June 18, 1950 in St. Edward. In 1956 his family started a new life in Oregon. Lyle worked hard to become a successful construction contractor and real estate developer. Some of his proudest achievements were the Collins Retreat Center in Boring and Highland Fair Center in Gresham.
Lyle centered his life around his family and his church. He raised his children to understand the importance of a strong work ethic and the goal of achieving for the benefit of his family. After his children grew up, Lyle was freed to pursue his love of traveling with his wife. Spending time in Green Valley, Arizona or helping his friend in need, or doing a project for his church or attending grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting games filled his heart with joy.
Survivors include his loving wife Corinne of Gresham, Oregon, children Steven and friend, Sherrie, of St. George Utah, Lucy, mother of three of his grandchildren of St. George, Utah, Deborah of Grants Pass, Oregon, Kent and wife Jan of Gresham, Oregon, and Linda Schoonover and husband Tim of Hillsboro, Oregon.
