Margaret "Peggy" Gladys Lathrop died Feb. 20, 2016, at her home in Portland. She was 88. Peggy was born Jan. 3, 1928, in Forsyth, Mont., to Irvin and Grace Castle. She grew up in Lewistown, Mont., and Miles City, Mont., marrying Clifford Warren Lathrop in July 1946 shortly after graduating from Custer County High School. Daughter, Mary Diane, was born in 1947, son, Steven Warren, in 1948 and daughter, Natalie Joanne, in 1949. After moving to Salem in 1947, Peggy worked as secretary to Oregon's Adjutant General. The family moved to Portland in 1958. From 1961 to 1987, she was an executive secretary at Blitz Weinhard Brewing. Dedicated to family, she loved reading mysteries, watching sports and old movies, and enjoying time with her cats. She is survived by her husband, Clifford; children, Diane Lathrop, Steven Lathrop (wife, Yvonne) and Natalie Patterson (husband, Kip); sisters, Faye Killworth and Joanne Nichols; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. One grandson preceded her in death. The family requests that any remembrances in her name be made to a favorite animal shelter or charity.
