Nancy Jane Lamb

Gresham resident Nancy J. Lamb passed away on January 30, 2011. She was 81. A private family service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Private interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park in Newberg, Oregon.

Nancy was born January 15, 1930 in Crofton, Nebraska to Charles and Dollie (Merchen) Barkman. She grew up in Newberg, Oregon and graduated from Newberg High School. Nancy married Don Simmons on September 3, 1948. They first lived in Richland, Washington and later moved to Salem & then Albany, Oregon. Nancy and Don later divorced. Nancy worked as a secretary for Central Grade School in Albany for approximately 15 years. She resettled in Newberg after retirement and then moved to Gresham four years ago to live closer to family.

Nancy was an avid reader and especially enjoyed historical fiction. She was a huge Blazer fan (especially Brandon Roy!) and loved watching sports on television. She also enjoyed supporting her son and grandchildren by attending sporting events they were involved in.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Jody Babson of Gresham, OR; son, Dave Simmons of Portland, OR; sister, Beulah Ferrell of Sherwood, OR; and 3 grandchildren.
