Opal graduated from Woodburn High School in 1943. She married Albert Tomey on August 25, 1945 in Newberg, Oregon. He preceded her in death.
Opal enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and caregiving for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Opal was an east county Portland resident.
Survivors include her son John Tomey, of Portland, OR., her caregiver and daughter-in-law Marsha Tomey, of Portland, sister-in-law, Kay O’Keefe, of Brush Prairie, WA, four grandchildren who are Heather (Jake) Miller, Andrea (Eric) Bridges, Jacob Tomey and Aimee (Konrad Dimmitt) Kemper, seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis, Zachery, Valerie, Jessica, Tate and Konnor, and many nieces and nephews. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert, daughter Vicki, brother Bob and sister Maxine.
Memorial Service will be on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Bateman Carroll Fuenral Home located at 520 W. Powell Blvd. in Gresham, Oregon. Private interment will be at Gresham Pioneer Cemetery.
