Pearl Jessie Compton, 96 of Gresham OR, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015. She was born on October 21, 1918 in Portland, Oregon to Fred and Edna (Maybee) Gusewelle. Pearl graduated from Gresham High School in 1936. She then attended business college before working at Fred Meyer a short time and also in clerical at Tongue Point Naval Base in Astoria, Oregon. She married Virgil Compton on May 31, 1942 in Gresham, Oregon and he preceded her in death on December 21, 1986. Pearl was an active member of Good Shepherd Community Church.
Pearl is survived by her daughter Carol Wells of Gresham OR; granddaughters Nancy Groth of Portland OR and Carolyn Middleton of The Dalles OR; great granddaughter Ariana Oliver and great grandsons Alec Groth, Elliot Middleton and Joshua Middleton. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Public visitation will be from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, Oregon. Private interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
