

Raymond L Clifton Jr.
Born September 24th, 1942 in Portland and passed away in February 8, 2024 at home with his family and friend in Damascus.
Raymond graduated from David Douglas High School, and joined the US Coast Guard, and became a 3rd Class Petty Officer. Raymond worked at Delmonte Meat Company for four years, and then worked at the Coke a Cola Bottling Company for a year. Raymond then went to work for at Northwest Natural Gas in Portland, Oregon, working in Customer Service, and then Field Engineering, and was on the Credit Union Board. Raymond retired after 40 years of service with Northwest Natural Gas.
Raymond belonged to the Scottish Rite, Masons, Shrine, Norse Hall, and Elks Lodge Organizations.
Raymond was involved in real estate, and was a real estate agent, and became a general contractor and was a residential home builder starting 1977. Raymond retired from residential home building about 2006, but he did continue to work on home building and real estate projects with family and friends. He built a lot of residential homes in the Gresham area, and built a house in Sandy, Oregon. Raymond was a general contractor on a couple of commercial buildings in the Portland area.
Raymond was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed big game hunting for deer, elk and moose, fishing and bird hunting. Raymond hunted in Oregon, Alaska, Canada, Montana and Colorado. Raymond went on fishing trips to Oregon rivers, lakes, and the Oregon Coast, and Washington, Montana, Colorado. Raymond went deep sea fishing in Alaska for Salmon and Halibut and Cabo San Lucas for Marlin.
Raymond enjoyed downhill skiing at Timberline Lodge, Mt Hood Meadows, Mt. Hood Ski Bowl, Anthony Lakes and Mt. Batchelor Ski Resorts in Oregon, Bogus Basin Ski Resort in Idaho, Big Sky Ski Resort in Montana, and Banff, Canada.
Raymond’s parents were Raymond Lester Clifton Sr. and Erna Annetta Clifton (Jaren). His daughter Jennifer and Jai (Walsh), and granddaughter Britney and Hunter (Surratt), and great grandson Jamison. Stepdaughter Cindy and Mark (Copeland), step granddaughter Sara and Brian (McKinley) and step great granddaughter Emma and step great grandson William. Raymonds sisters are Janet Dittemore, Anita Clifton, and Lori Balga, and two nieces and a nephew. He leaves behind Carol Simpson, Sandra Fisher, and friend Linda Lundgren.
There will be no memorial service at his request. Donations can be made to the Heart and Diabetes Foundations.
